Style It Your Way

One coat styled four ways for different occasions. You make it work! Mood, personality, and personal style all play into the way you dress. Sometimes you look at your closet feel you have nothing to wear. Shopping your closet with some outside inspiration can instantly change that dilemma. I constantly draw my inspiration from others. It helps me be more creative and playful with alternative ways to wear some of my favorite pieces.

Here are four ways to wear Shrimp’s faux fur heart coat:

One gal drapes it over her shoulders (pic 1 & 3) while another pushes up the arm sleeves (pic 4). One wears it super casual like an over sized sweatshirt (pic 2) and another is very Audrey Hepburn (pic 1). Trendy accessories are transforming these looks (heart glasses, pearl headband, black leather beret, and handbags). Footwear ranges from the classic Converse sneaker, colorful booties to pink ballet flats. All pretty timeless. Unexpected pops of color connecting each look.

My personal favorite daily style connects with pic 4. All of these pictures will influence a few of my future outfits. I may not have the heart coat but I do have a faux fur leopard.

Style Tip: Mad Hatter

You are either a hat person or you are not.  Exploring the chic street style brim hat. A stylish staple with a long history.  A hat that effortlessly adds a uniqueness to your personal style.  The brim hat is a classic fashion piece meant to be worn.  A playful accessory that is worth considering.  Goorin Bros. is a nice place to explore for an approachable option.  They know a thing or two about hats with a history in the hat making world since 1895.  Or take a peek at Parisian millenary, Maison Michel.  They are beautiful!  Check out Farfetch. Styling Tip: Just Another Way

Belt It!  Here is a styling tip anyone can replicate.  Taking something classic and giving it a chic twist that is center stage.  A tip that I am personally copying and loving with my long cardigans and one particular open front wool coat that I have struggled styling.  Think of it as the bow on the gift.  It is just another way to modify your look with one easy accessory.  Give it a go.  I am sure you have a gem of a belt tucked away in that closet.  If not perhaps it is time to get one.  I hope these styles spark your creative side!  Check out Net-A-Porter for some sale belts.

The Extras

It all works and you won’t be a walking trend.  No fuss accessories that will give your wardrobe a refresh.  A bit of color doesn’t hurt anyone.  I know that black is so easy but so is adding a little color.  The wrap is your base to work around.  Underneath it I would wear neutrals consisting of a couple of layers (denim tuxedo and a cozy cardigan or jacket).  Accessories that have complementing colors will give you a look that is a bit more interesting but not so obvious.  Accessories are an easy way to express your own personal style.

When It Is That Cold

you may want this look!  I am not the only one thinking these hats are a good idea.  Get on the waiting list.  A full coverage hat to be worn on the coldest city days without looking like a bank robber but maybe more like a Teletubbie.  They are not for skiers (less you are vying for Jerry of the Day) but for the brave wearers who just want face protection as well as up their city style.  The Moritz from Kule will have you fully covered!  Made of cashmere so hoping that skin irritation won’t be an issue.  But it may be a risk worth taking if they come back in to stock!  Stay warm this winter.  Kule

Holiday Plaid All The Way!

There is never too much tartan and egg nog during the holidays.  It is fun, festive, and traditional.  Don’t just wear one piece.  Mix and match many pieces together to really get into the spirit.  Here is my selection from J.Crew to get you head to toe excited.  They have a fab selection.  FYI, holiday sale is in progress!  Happy Holidays.  Go tartan. It is a classic!  There is nothing here that you can’t wear year after year.  J.Crew

Be Bold This Season

Monies is a Danish company making sculptural statement jewelry founded by goldsmiths Gerda and Nikolai Monies.  All pieces are handcrafted from natural materials in their Copenhagen workshop.  Think elegant yet playful.  I discovered these beautiful gems over the summer but now layering up with oversized accessories seems perfect to match with those cozy knitted sweaters.  I am a fan of Monies and their clip on earrings have caught my attention.   You can find a nice selection on Farfetch.  (images from Farfetch)

Gucci Showing Off Some Fun Below The Knee

Any one can play in this game!  Socks and tights are one of the easiest ways to transform your style instantly.  I also love the fact that this fashion accessory can be gentle on your wallet unless you go with the Gucci option.  There is no way around not wearing this essential accessory so you might as well make them interesting.  Have some fun and let loose this holiday season.  Think about adding texture, color, and print to your long pleated skirt, cropped pant, or that fancy dress .  Festive flair!  Check out Net-A-Porter

Bihor Couture’s Story

bihor-couture

Something good to share!  Beau Monde, a fashion magazine is partnering with a small town in the Beius Country of Romania to keep their craft alive by creating the brand Bihor Couture.

Fashion designers find their inspiration by traveling around the world and immersing themselves into different cultures and traditions to draw inspiration for their next line.  Unfortunately they don’t always give those communities credit.  But through the awareness and support of Beau Monde the story is changing.  The local creators of Bihor can now sell their 100% authentic Romania design pieces online.  Their handcrafted pieces are bold, bright, unique, and steep in tradition.  The Beius Authentic Jacket is artwork, the scarf is fantastic, and the blouse is simply perfect.  Pieces are for pre-order only due to the length of time that goes into each handcrafted and hand embroidered piece.  Quality takes time.  There is no mass manufacturing here in Bihor.

The video is eye-opening, beautiful, inspiring, and true!  I want to visit these ladies.  I want to befriend them.  They are talented and don’t hold back any punches!  I want to learn their craft.  This story makes my heart sing and it deepens my love for authentic fashion.  Connecting faces to stories is how messages can be conveyed.  Thank you to my dear friend, solid liquids who shared this story with me. Keep them coming my way!  I have been meaning to share this story and no better time than now. Discover Bihor Couture for yourselves and share this story.

Back To The 90’s

Bucket hats are back.  I’m not sure if isostilo can pull this off but certainly many fashionistas are rocking them at the moment.  If I were to pick one then these are my players for you and me.  Since it is raining today the green hunter Acne would be most appreciated.
