Dream of warmer days but winter is far from over if you live on the east coast or anywhere else that experiences old man winter. Evolve with Woolrich. A company with American roots is making a strong return. Meet a refreshing alternative and perhaps the happy medium between Canada Goose and Moncler. Both are very loved among city dwellers. Walk down the street and count them to see how common they have become. Hey I admit I’m in that camp. You can’t deny the quality of both brands. But I think it is a good time to consider other options if you are contemplating a new outerwear piece.
Woolrich, you have my attention with your stylish ways. Woolrich is dialing into an urban style with a cool, hip, and creative way. Just take a peek at their Fall/ Winter campaign called American Soul. This collaboration with Ms. Lauryn Hill has completely sold out. They have balanced their new creative shift in a direction without losing sight of their heritage. The iconic pattern, Buffalo Check remains strong. If you haven’t checked out their website recently you are missing out. Also their collaboration with Jeff Griffin from Loveland Farm is legit. Woolrich is defiantly worth exploring. When It Is That Cold
you may want this look! I am not the only one thinking these hats are a good idea. Get on the waiting list. A full coverage hat to be worn on the coldest city days without looking like a bank robber but maybe more like a Teletubbie. They are not for skiers (less you are vying for Jerry of the Day) but for the brave wearers who just want face protection as well as up their city style. The Moritz from Kule will have you fully covered! Made of cashmere so hoping that skin irritation won’t be an issue. But it may be a risk worth taking if they come back in to stock! Classic Investment
Classic styles are worth the investment and the time hunting for them. Winter outerwear, I believe is where you can invest and get your return back year after year. It should be that one favorite coat that you don’t walk your dog in but instead, the one you slip into for special occasions, dinners out, festive gatherings, or a night on the town. It is nice to have one piece that wraps you up like a present and makes going out on those cold nights feel more ladylike than Michelin Man.
Winter outerwear really does stand the test of time particularly when you go off trend. Hot color and style trends of the season are around for a hot second and, in my opinion, not worth the high investment. Classic styles are far from boring. A well-tailored classic doesn’t require bells and whistles. It requires a well delivered silhouette that fits you. Subtle design and attention to detail goes the distance. You will never regret investing in your forever coat in a rich navy, a classic black, a warm gray, or a creamy camel.

The always cool Alexander Wang has partnered up with Uniqlo for an intimates line that is aesthetically eye-catching, functional, and sure to be the workhorse of your winter layering. It couldn’t come at a better time. The weather is turning and we know what lies ahead. Uniqlo’s HEATTECH line has just become a bit hotter! Check it out for yourselves. I am eyeing the turtleneck bodysuit along with the leggings and tanks. Pretty much the whole flipping line! And YES, this special capsule is still affordable with prices ranging from $9.00 to $40.00. Knowing how to dress in the winter is critical to getting through those brutally cold days. These pieces are also beautiful enough to have them peeking out through the layers! A Peek Into My isostilo Style
Style is whatever you make it. I have always been interested in following fashion in my spare time via insta, Flipboard, Pintrest, and magazines. I enjoy sitting in cafes to watch the city style pass me by. I love when someone is rocking their own style. It is not about what is on trend or what bag your sporting but more importantly being an individual and what inspires you.
Currently, I am having fun with functional winter pieces. It is still winter ladies (hopefully not for long)! I am totally digging track pants, black turtlenecks, boots, and my beanies (sounds a bit boring). My every day life is moving around the city and running around with my son. A lot of what I wear seems to be pieces that I have collected over the years (which makes me happy).
At the end of the day, I am a casual gal kicking it in streetwear. Loving that jeans are the norm and I can alternate them with track pants. Currently I have a couple jeans that seem to be in heavy rotation. One being a black mid rise, fitted jean from Madewell, and the other a Simon Miller, high rise, wide bottom leg. I call those gems my man repellers (brilliant name by the way and I love the site of the true Man Repeller). I typically pair any bottom with an easy knit or sweatshirt and occasionally layer on a blazer. Along with one of my favorite kicks or my Hope or Church’s boots depending on my day. Throw on a coat that suits the weather and top it off with a beanie. Easy Peasy and out the door.
Why the beanie love: I love the warmth, love to hide my bad hair, love the look, and love to sport it around the house:) Either my black Acne beanie or my son’s Vans beanie. As one has seen on most of my insta pics this season.
Mountain Weekends
It can be such a mixed bag of winter weather when one heads to New England’s ski mountains. The range of weather is unpredictable. We travel to Vermont pretty much every weekend in the winter. The boys are skiers. I am at best a fair weather skier. I do love the idea of skiing but the cold scares me as well as tumbling down the trail with my butt and skis in the air. It is also important to mention that I am painfully slow! So I try to spare my family’s embarrassment and opt for snowshoeing or a trail hike. But when I do surprise my family when I put on the skis, it is always so nice to take a few runs with my boys! Later this week we head to Montana so I have put together a winter post as I pack just the essentials.
I require warm gear to embrace the elements. I love warm layers. I have great luck with both Nike (PRO HYPERWARM line) and Under Armour (Cold Gear Armour line) for base layers. My KJUS jacket is one of my best investment pieces. It is from their Freelite collection. It is knitted, warm, and super comfortable to wear. This Swiss company simply makes great products that are designed for function. Mittens, I love my tried and true Hestra and beloved by many outdoor enthusiasts but my Astis are a nice alternative. A new find that I am enjoying are some playful bandanas that are double lined. I also find them handy for the post hat head. I found them in Big Sky and unfortunately they have no label so I can’t share the source. The idea is planted so you could make them yourselves if you are crafty! Perhaps isostilo may surprise you down the road. I have included some snow/hiking boots. La Sportiva boots are the best that I have found. I wear them snowshoeing and they keep my feet dry, warm, and have molded perfectly to my feet. I pair them with some Smartwool socks and off I go!
I am always happily hunting for warm pieces. Here are a few pieces that are similar to what I own and a few extra pieces that I wouldn’t mind adding to my winter wardrobe. It’s all about getting out to play with just the right pieces.

Pop of color: If you want some fun retro bottoms then check out these little fancy bottoms from Shinesty. Only to be worn in warmer temps. I whipped them out recently when the temps were in the 30’s. They have a similar feel to yoga pants. Hello!

Sometimes it is just fun to surf the web and curate while sipping some coffee on a Saturday morning. I find myself bouncing from one site to another. Exploring anything from fashion, lifestyle, health, or pop culture. Today I have found a few fashion pieces that have my eye. It all started with the black suede Neous boots. They are sculptural, elegant, and funky in my opinion. The boots speak for themselves. Seriously this heel is amazing! Easily paired with any denim. Absolutely digging these mid rise, straight leg in light denim from the Brock Collection. The Acne Studios bomber style jacket found on Vestiaire Collective is just cozy like a teddy bear but hip because it is from always edgy Acne! The icing on the cake are these Rebecca De Ravenel’s two drop earrings. Soft pink, I like it! xo
