Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays while enjoying the outdoors is a challenge. Who doesn’t love the warm sunshine and beach filled days?! Applying and reapplying sunscreen is a must along with sun shades and sun hats. But still it can be difficult to protect yourself from sun damage and exposure. If you cover up with UPF clothing then you don’t need to worry about reapplying sunscreen to your whole body. Just your face, neck, hands, and feet! Or simply head to the beach after 5.

A day at the beach with a group of women that all said yes to joining a surf clinic. Experiences are gifts. Bad or good, they shape you, challenge you, and teach you something about yourself. I am an over thinker (totally reaffirmed during the surf clinic). Sometimes we create reasons and obstacles that prevent us from participating in something that may test ourselves. When you have the support of friends, all those reasons tend to fade away.
This surf clinic was a first for all us. We laughed, used our bodies, and survived to talk about it. Yeah, we are all over 40 but does that really matter?! Age shouldn’t prevent you from having fun. Perhaps a little soar the next day. Which I think is a positive side effect.
Love these women for jumping on board. We finished the clinic feeling stronger and more confident although tired. We are no worse for the wear. New friendships have been formed while some have reconnected. Check out all the beautiful smiles!
Living Water Surf is located in Little Compton, Rhode Island. They offer private lessons, clinics, and camps for kids. Lessons are taught on South Shore Beach. Arrive before 8am to park for free.

Ahhh that feeling of summer. Time to welcome the season with a brighter and lighter wardrobe. Personally I love swapping out my black denim for my white denim. White tees so easy. I am also not afraid of getting them dirty! Don’t think precious and perfect. A sandy bottom, rolled wet cuffs or a little chain grease means you are not holding back on your summer fun. Take care of your clothes so they last. Stains just add character. Happy Summer!

Back With A Breezy Style

A company I stumbled across recently and immediately fell for their lovely flowy style. Airy feminine dresses to be worn anytime of day. Summertime dressing to me should not be fussy or require accessories besides your sunnies and hat. As I was searching for some inspiration for possible new sunglasses, I came across style icons Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway in The Thomas Crown Affair (great movie and will watch again on my upcoming trip). Not only the eyewear but the fisherman sweater, trench, headscarf, and neutral tones have me thinking they exude cool, perfect style. These pics also reaffirm that all these pieces should be in everyone’s wardrobe. They are timeless and classic. What else can I say? I just recently checked off the fisherman sweater and love it. I will be trying on the SM iconic style Persol’s 649- Originals as well as the ISBA from Oliver Peoples. Trenches and scarves, every stylish designer has their take in this department. So find your favorite and it will be worth the investment.

Love this summer travel hat from Tracy Watts. A foldable hat that you can tuck into its sweet travel bag. Besides that fact, you can wear it with everything and you can pack it in your suitcase! On a long haul flight, the last thing you want to do is guard your straw hat from getting crushed. The Dune Asymmetrical Fedora comes in a natural color with white, melon, or blue stitching. They are handmade. The raw edging is perfection!

It is HOT these days and adding a few more caftans into the summer mix feels minimal! They are effortless and chic. Slide one over a swimsuit or a slip to give you an easy day to evening look. These particular caftans are from Two and are made in New York. A favorite of mine. I am never disappointed with their modern take on the simple caftan. They are made from hand woven textiles and Saris from India. Caftans are the perfect solution to dressing light and perfect for a summer getaway. I will say that Two is on the expensive side, but buy one and your cost per wear will prove to be in your favor by the end of the summer.
