Style It Your Way

One coat styled four ways for different occasions. You make it work! Mood, personality, and personal style all play into the way you dress. Sometimes you look at your closet feel you have nothing to wear. Shopping your closet with some outside inspiration can instantly change that dilemma. I constantly draw my inspiration from others. It helps me be more creative and playful with alternative ways to wear some of my favorite pieces.

Here are four ways to wear Shrimp’s faux fur heart coat:

One gal drapes it over her shoulders (pic 1 & 3) while another pushes up the arm sleeves (pic 4). One wears it super casual like an over sized sweatshirt (pic 2) and another is very Audrey Hepburn (pic 1). Trendy accessories are transforming these looks (heart glasses, pearl headband, black leather beret, and handbags). Footwear ranges from the classic Converse sneaker, colorful booties to pink ballet flats. All pretty timeless. Unexpected pops of color connecting each look.

My personal favorite daily style connects with pic 4. All of these pictures will influence a few of my future outfits. I may not have the heart coat but I do have a faux fur leopard.

Berlin Baby

Berlin!  Where to start?  Berlin, the capital city of Germany is becoming a love of mine.  This city is flat-out cool!  Everyone is young, artistic, stylish, creative, vibrant, and ultra hip. Whatever you are looking for, you will find.  Berlin is full of rich history.  Every step along your journey reminds you of that.  Berlin speaks to me like Amsterdam.  Experiencing this city with local friends makes you feel like a local.  I did no planning and went along for the ride. I wanted the everyday life of a Berliner.  The feeling as if I lived there (Yes! I can live here).  Here is Berlin!

The food scene stretches beyond just food.  The creativity, the environment, and the attention to detail is appreciated.  The awareness of  what you are eating is inspiring .  An absolute stand out for me is Daluma.  I beg for this place to land in my hood.

Urban living at its best! Behind every store front is a garden.  On top of every building is graffiti art.  Every corner has some green.  Look up and you see gems!  Eyes wide open the whole time.

Hotel Oderberger Berlin, a stunning 70 room hotel located in the heart of the city.  I dream of going back and staying here.

Relish in the style of individuals! NO shortage of places to gather, shop, and wander .  Cool hunting all the time! Sammlung Boros, a private art collection of Karen and Christian Boros housed in a renovated bunker is not to be missed.  An absolute must but be sure to book ahead!

Thursday’s Style Along With A Pop of Trend

A total errand day!  Getting ready for a weekend in Vermont along with some Easter bunny duties.  The sun was shining and the weather had me in a pickle.  I questioned the temperature would reach high 50’s but it is spring and I was optimistic.  I went with layers.  Super easy to peel off as the day warmed up.  I have been committed to breaking out some old goodies from my closet and yesterday was the perfect day to for a spring friendly knit sweater.  The sweater was the piece and the rest was easy.  Paired with a current denim style that has a fuller leg, a stripe top (stripes always in style), white kicks, and finished off the outfit with an on trend piece, a cloth bag.  I went with a denim on denim look but could have easily gone with a trench jacket.

Creamy sweater from ANNELORE.  It is all about the details!  A feminine top layer piece that is just lovely!

Stripes anytime from Mads Norgaard.  This is a basic piece for me.  Simon Miller jeans are also a staple and in heavy rotation these days. The watch is my husband’s, Tag Heuer Carrera 1964 reissue.  It’s my new love to sport.

Denim on denim with Acne Studios oversized jacket.  I bought this a bit bigger for a slouchy look and to layer  over sweaters. I like how the denim adds some edge to the sweater. Hey no beanie on that girl!

On my second pair of my Comme des Garcons x Converse kicks.  Everyone needs at least one pair of white sneakers. I actually like them more when they get broken in and a bit dirty.  Gives them character.  Little pom pom socks for some extra fun.

Cloth bags are sweet, fun, interesting, and lightweight. Also the easiest and inexpensive trend to add to your style.  I love the red and white gingham.  It’s spring baby and the sun is out!

Wishing you all a happy weekend! Tulips for everyone on this long holiday weekend xo

The ANNELORE sweater was from the good old days when Louis Boston was on Newbury Street.  I loved this store for their curated selection of merchandise. They were hunters of upcoming brands along with bold designers like Dries Van Noten.  Each floor was beautifully arranged.  It was a place to explore and a paradise for fashion mavens.

Like A New Bag Is Necessary?!

Maybe…  I really don’t need one but why not take a peek.  Basket bags, net bags, and fancy bags are all catching everyone’s eye.  Handbags are a great way to add that one piece to freshen up your style especially with spring on the horizon.  You want to feel lighter and carefree.  For me, I want to carry my essentials: sunnies, iPhone, wallet, lippie, keys, sunblock, and my small note pad (yes, I know I can take notes on my iPhone).  Shedding layers is a gal’s spring goal so why not begin with an accessory that we don’t leave home without.  I am a bit of a bag lady and have collected some classic style handbags over the years.  But now I am hunting for a minimal, nondescript, and fuss free handle carrying accessory that is not a luxury piece.  It needs to fold into my lifestyle without defining my look.   A fun bag that has me swinging with a smile on a sunny day.  So I hit the shops for some inspiration.  Check out these beauties that are currently trending.  For now I will be toting around my recycled cotton patterned bags from cool shops that I have visited during my travels.  Stayed tuned for what isostilo ends up sporting for spring and summer if at all anything!

Peanuts For Spring!

Walked into Essentiel Antwerp, a men’s and women’s clothing store from Antwerp (not that the name doesn’t give it away).  At the moment they are having some fun with a Peanuts collaboration.  One can swing a snoopy bag to bring a basic outfit to life or flirt in a Peanuts inspired skirt.  I am always delighted to see a fun side of fashion.  The store is full of bright and colorful pieces.  Spring is knocking on the door in this store.  It is so refreshing to experience something different but wearable at the same time.  Essentiel Antwerp will bring out your inner playfulness!  I Love It!!

A few pics for the men.  But you get a sense of their style.  I’m digging the plaid pants.  Here’s a peek!

Beanie Gift From My Husband + Recycled Shopping Bag That Has Become My Handbag

Beanie:

I’m a beanie girl.  Meet my new love.  A gift from my husband from his Japan travels.  He knows my style too well! I love the patch and the blue on blue.  The Japanese have perfected the attention to detail.

Bag:

I am recycling a cloth skull and star shopping bag from a store purchase that I made some time ago in Amsterdam.  I love handbags and have spent years collecting them.  But funny how this cloth bag seems more my style lately.

Sweatshirt:

Along with the beanie came a sweatshirt.  The dyed indigo blue sweatshirt has an irregular texture and surface that will only get better with wear.  I appreciate the detail of the deeper blue ribbed cuffs and neck that gives the sweatshirt a hint of a worn in look.  For a blue loving girl like myself, this has become a favorite.

Denim:

As promised I have been committed to wearing what’s in my closet.  I’m falling back in love with my old favorite DENHAM jeans (my booty jeans). DENHAM are jean makers and are all about the details.  For me, this particular pair are all about the back pockets.  They are a straight fit and work well with kicks or a kitten heel.

Jacket:

My absolute favorite new piece added to my outerwear arsenal.  This was a recent sale bin score from Henrik Vibskov.  I immediately fell in love with this hip length, two-tone color (unusual paring I thought) puffy with a blue wave that hugs the jacket.  It is one piece that you either love it or question the hell out of it.  I Love It!  A forever piece for me.  Fashion forward and playful at the same time.

One Free Sunday

Doesn’t always happen but sometimes you simply make it so! It’s up to you to decide how to spend it.  For me it was easy and I was in count down mode till the Dutchies arrived.  My boys were off skiing and I love a reason to cook.  So I decided to do some monster cooking.  I rolled up my sleeves, poured a coffee, cranked some John Mayor and fired up the stove.
