Holiday Weekend Is Here

A long summer weekend so make the most it! Keep it simple, keep easy, and pack light. Hit your local farmers market early for fresh summer produce and spend all your time outside. Nothing says summer like celebrating with a BBQ, a slice of Flag Cake, and a scoop of homemade Italian Ice perhaps with a side of beach. Enjoy!

Happy Fourth Of July!

Revisiting Tie Dye

Embrace tie-dye because it’s in full force on the runways.  If you care to invest in a piece then I suggest you do so now and wear it straight through summer.  Not all tie-dye pieces will have you on board with this trend.  But here are few selections that can easily be worked into a wardrobe.  Maybe one piece would be fun to play with.  The Raquel Allegra (California-based designer with an interesting approach to everyday wear) jumpsuit piqued my interest.  It also checks the box for both trends:  jumpsuit + tie-dye.  Brace yourself, the cost of tie-dye is shockingly expensive!

Jonathon Simkhai denim, Raquel Allegra jumpsuit, DSQUARED denim shirt, Jerome Drefus clutch bag, Diesel Black Gold dress, Raquel Allegra blue pink dress, MM6 t shirt (subtle, I like it), PSWL short sleeve poplin shirt

The Extras

It all works and you won’t be a walking trend.  No fuss accessories that will give your wardrobe a refresh.  A bit of color doesn’t hurt anyone.  I know that black is so easy but so is adding a little color.  The wrap is your base to work around.  Underneath it I would wear neutrals consisting of a couple of layers (denim tuxedo and a cozy cardigan or jacket).  Accessories that have complementing colors will give you a look that is a bit more interesting but not so obvious.  Accessories are an easy way to express your own personal style.

Classic Investment

Joseph Marline
Clean and simple from Joseph is timeless.

Ganni Mayer Coat
Ganni typically delivers colorful and fun pieces but in this case knows the importance of a classic.

Prada Belted
Styled to the max in Prada and unfortunately it comes with a steep price tag.

Joseph Modern Coat
Soft and delicate from Joseph. Perfect over a dress.

Classic styles are worth the investment and the time hunting for them. Winter outerwear, I believe is where you can invest and get your return back year after year. It should be that one favorite coat that you don’t walk your dog in but instead, the one you slip into for special occasions, dinners out, festive gatherings, or a night on the town.  It is nice to have one piece that wraps you up like a present and makes going out on those cold nights feel more ladylike than Michelin Man.

Winter outerwear really does stand the test of time particularly when you go off trend.  Hot color and style trends of the season are around for a hot second and, in my opinion, not worth the high investment.  Classic styles are far from boring.  A well-tailored classic doesn’t require bells and whistles.  It requires a well delivered silhouette that fits you.  Subtle design and attention to detail goes the distance.  You will never regret investing in your forever coat in a rich navy, a classic black, a warm gray, or a creamy camel.

Perhaps thinking about shopping less and putting those funds toward purchases you really love and that stand the test of time is a better way to shop.  Luckily, classic outerwear pieces are becoming more reasonable.  Here are few to inspire you from Net-A-Porter.  Check out your favorite place to shop for similar styles.  Keep an eye out for special holiday sales or better yet if you can hold off until after the holidays you may score big.

Time to swap out your basic tee for a basic black turtleneck.   Always hunting for good black turtlenecks this time of year. Turtlenecks layer nicely under blazers, flannels, sweaters, and dresses.  They can look simply chic and uncomplicated when worn alone.  A classic must have for the cooler temperatures.  Here are few to get you interested.

For Sneakerheads

Sneakers are here to stay and isostilo is a fan.  Just look around the next time you walk down the street, flip through a fashion magazine, or witness the sneakerheads that are waiting in line for a current drop.  You don’t need a reason to wear them.  They give an instant refresh and let us not ignore the comfort they deliver.

You may not love the current ugly dad sneaker but that is not your only option to be a player in the sneaker world.  What is your style?  Sneakers range from bold, subtle, classic, sleek, to sporty.  All the classics are back and they are not slowing down with their releases.  isostilo is a bit biased towards Nike and adidas.  Their prices are within reach and their styles are always on point.  There are plenty of players in the field.  Check out isostilo’s round-up from Net-A-Porter.  Prices swing!

Sometimes a little style inspiration is needed to embrace a season change.  It is hard to ignore the inbox that is filling with tag lines of Fall Fashion.  I peeked to see what I could find on Net-A-Porter for a few versatile pieces that could make slipping into Fall a bit more fun.  Keeping it simple for those in between days is the key to easy dressing.  All pieces from Net-A-Porter.

A dress for all you lovely ladies!  I am so in love with color these days.  Just take a peek at the ARoss Girl x Soler collaboration.  It is one to dream about.  Spotted on Net-A-Porter of course on this rainy day.  These stunning dresses come with a price tag but I am certain you could come with a handful of reasons to warrant your purchase (think cost per wear).  Then you will find yourself twirling in one over excitement.  A midi length is not always the easiest to pull off but with the help of a block heel or neutral strappy sandal you are well on your way.  The maxi just needs a sweet flat.  These dresses are playful, colorful, pretty, feminine, and timeless.  It is that one dress that would never need dusting off.  So pretty! Bravo!!
