The Label: Emerson Fry

This Sunday’s style, Emerson Fry. A local east coast label which I discovered a few years back. EF offers everyday basics with a modern feel. She does a nice job balancing trendy with classic. A playful tee paired with denim or the black fringe dress styled with a white boot are two nice examples of tasteful spins with current trends.

Emerson Fry is easy to wear. Pieces can easily fold into any wardrobe. I see this label as an on point neutral. A safe buy with an affordable price tag. I love that her style seems ageless and approachable. She could reach a broader market with more diverse (age and body type) models.

Emerson Fry started in 2009 by Emerson Bethany Fry. I appreciate that all pieces are made in the USA with the exception of the India Collection which are made in India using heirloom printing and dye techniques.

EF is another independent designer to consider when you are hunting for a fresh piece to add to your closet. Emerson Fry

It Comes Down To The Details with FEIT

If you like NO.6, Ancient Greek Sandals, or ATP (All Tomorrow’s Parties) then you just may like FEIT. Henry Cuir also comes to mind. FEIT is a NYC based company designing handcrafted leather shoes for women and men that appear to only get better with wear.

Yes, it is fall but this sandal immediately captured my attention. A sandal that doesn’t read trendy or ugly anything. It is unisex in appearance with an under the radar presence. A beautiful, soft, natural, caramel toned leather sandal with hand stitching, and a solid sole. I would happily slide my foot into for the trying. Without seeing them in person, I would say they are up for the task of walking a city. A neutral tone for any situation or style. Even the packaging is thoughtful. Not to mention there is no glaring logo stamped or printed on the beautiful leather. For fall, I have my eye on the edgy metal clog below. I’m digging its everyday appeal but my wallet is saying something else.

I love that all FEIT’s footwear are made by humans from all natural products and treatments. The focus is on quality and preserving the craft. The company is fully transparent. You can read more on their website about the production process. FYI these handcrafted sandals and boots come with a pricey price tag. So you must love and value their story. I could see myself wearing both the sandal and clog non-stop and getting my cost per wear to zero. There is something special about a shoe that becomes totally worn in from the places you have traveled. FEIT does have a loyal following.

Store locations in NYC, San Francisco, and Sydney.

Classic Investment

Toteme Bergerac Coat
Love the cut, the drop shoulder, and color from Toteme.  Chic

ROKH
Rokh is all about the button details with this double-breasted coat giving it a few clever ways to wear this piece.

Harris Wharf London
Simplicity from Harris Wharf London will never give you regrets.

Joseph Marline
Clean and simple from Joseph is timeless.

Ganni Mayer Coat
Ganni typically delivers colorful and fun pieces but in this case knows the importance of a classic.

Prada Belted
Styled to the max in Prada and unfortunately it comes with a steep price tag.

Joseph Modern Coat
Soft and delicate from Joseph. Perfect over a dress.

Classic styles are worth the investment and the time hunting for them. Winter outerwear, I believe is where you can invest and get your return back year after year. It should be that one favorite coat that you don’t walk your dog in but instead, the one you slip into for special occasions, dinners out, festive gatherings, or a night on the town.  It is nice to have one piece that wraps you up like a present and makes going out on those cold nights feel more ladylike than Michelin Man.

Winter outerwear really does stand the test of time particularly when you go off trend.  Hot color and style trends of the season are around for a hot second and, in my opinion, not worth the high investment.  Classic styles are far from boring.  A well-tailored classic doesn’t require bells and whistles.  It requires a well delivered silhouette that fits you.  Subtle design and attention to detail goes the distance.  You will never regret investing in your forever coat in a rich navy, a classic black, a warm gray, or a creamy camel.

Perhaps thinking about shopping less and putting those funds toward purchases you really love and that stand the test of time is a better way to shop.  Luckily, classic outerwear pieces are becoming more reasonable.  Here are few to inspire you from Net-A-Porter.  Check out your favorite place to shop for similar styles.  Keep an eye out for special holiday sales or better yet if you can hold off until after the holidays you may score big.

September is a month long fashion show! And with that, there is always something on the horizon.  Designers are revealing their looks for Spring 2019.  Here are a few beautiful pieces that are redefining the classics with a feminine aesthetic that is hard to resist.  I am a bit biased towards the neutral tones especially when they deliver simplicity.

Fall Attitude Influenced By A Mens Classic Shoe

Currently contemplating swapping out the sneakers for a mens inspired classic shoe.  Wear them with jeans to dresses.  An edgy alternative to complement a feminine look.  Time to change it up and put your own stamp on your personal style.  This is a look that may not be for everyone but isostilo is digging the masculine touch.  Loafers, brogues, or oxfords is the question.

You can find more choices on Farfetch

Style x 2

As I was searching for some inspiration for possible new sunglasses, I came across style icons Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway in The Thomas Crown Affair (great movie and will watch again on my upcoming trip).  Not only the eyewear but the fisherman sweater, trench, headscarf, and neutral tones have me thinking they exude cool, perfect style.  These pics also reaffirm that all these pieces should be in everyone’s wardrobe.  They are timeless and classic.  What else can I say?  I just recently checked off the fisherman sweater and love it.  I will be trying on the SM iconic style Persol’s 649- Originals as well as the ISBA from Oliver Peoples.  Trenches and scarves, every stylish designer has their take in this department.  So find your favorite and it will be worth the investment.

Oh Céline!

Celine Fall

Celine FALL18

Celine FALL18

Celine Ankle Boot Fall

Celine Big Bucket Fall

Celine Ballerina Fall

Celine 5 Pockets FALL18

Hard to think about the Fall, but Céline Fall 18 has me weak at the knees.  The oversized trousers and sweaters, the wide-ass-belt, and the leather dress speak to me on every level.  The Neutral tones are classic and reflects a clean design.  The pop of hot pink is sexy.  I am a super fan of the oversized trouser that goes straight to the floor.  Just walk on clouds from location to location to not dirty them (but maybe a little dirt would give them more grit).  Swing the bucket bag all day long and right into evening.  The ankle booties are ridiculous!  Not wishing summer away but always fun to see what is in store.  It is all in the details and need a few more 0s in my bank account:)

Always Good With Jane Birkin

Jane Birkin is without a doubt a style icon.  The pictures say it all!  Her timeless and classic beauty inspires all (isostilo included).  She has an effortless and natural demeanor of the girl next door.  Her simple style takes her from city cool to beachside casual in simple classic pieces.  Her basic white tee-shirt paired with a fringed denim is edgy, sexy, and sweet all at the same time.  Always feminine but the rolled up shirt sleeves coupled with layered necklaces take the look into new territories.  Her style is hers and Jane wears the clothes.  Her casual elegance is perfection! The basket bag never gets old.  The five summer styles pictured above show all the basic pieces one needs in their closet:  tee-shirt, white button down, denim of your choice, espadrilles, simple bikini or a simple black one piece , and a woven bag. (Madewell, J.Crew, Net-A-Porter, and Mango are always good places to start your search)
